A FICO Specialist is a professional proficient in the Financials and Controlling modules of mySAP ERP, the enterprise software program formerly known as ERP, produced by SAP. The Financials (FI) module is designed for automated management and external reporting and has 8 submodules, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. The Controlling (CO) module, which contains four submodules, is a management instrument for decisions involving cost flow and revenue.
Prepare to Become a FICO Specialist
Step 1:Assess your suitability to become a FICO specialist by verifying that you have highly developed computer skills and software proficiency, including the capacity to learn mySAP ERP`s proprietary language, ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming), and high-level expertise in corporate financial functions. You should also be prepared to spend your career working in a multinational corporate environment, since only the largest companies run mySAP ERP.
Step 2:Complete your academic training with a bachelor`s degree in information technology or computer programming, with specialization in enterprise software. Additional course work in finance is also a major asset in this field.
Step 3:Join SDN, the collaborative SAP Developer Network, to enter the loop of developers, experts and others specializing in work with SAP software including ABAP and mySAP ERP, including its FICO modules (see Resources below).
Step 4:Supplement your formal academic coursework with continuing education by taking eLearning courses in mySAP ERP available through the SAP Developer Network.
